EVENT: South Beach Swim at Lola’s.

May 30, 2014

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting up with a bunch of bloggers I’d never met before and heading over to Lola’s in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, for South Beach Swim’s #SouthBeachSummer event – and what a little scorcher it was! For what could potentially be the first time in my life, I was ten minutes early for the do – but not that we were complaining, as it gave us first dibs on the (terribly, terribly) moreish custom-named cocktails. I will confess now, that despite polishing off a good five of these beauties by the time I had to leave – I still didn’t don a bikini and start a conga train. Such a let down, I know…

Our little group (Abi of Kemples, Emma of MissPond, Amy of AmyElizabeth and Beckie of BeckieRackham) settled down with our cocktails and soon after were ushered into the next room – the next room of cake heaven. Now, I’m not usually one for a sweet tooth, but for starters, marshmallow and chocolate brownies (with fizzy flying saucers on them)? They’re kinda something else. As for the cakes – oh, the cakes: one chocolatey delight adorned with what looked like the lining of a fat toddler’s stomach – but in the very best of ways, the other an adorable beach scene. After scoffing half a tonne of crisps and a cheeky nibble of cake, I’d like to thank South Beach Swim for feeding me for the remainder of the week…

Then came every #bbloggers favourite phrase: time for manicures! I opted for a quirky OPI colour in a deep purple which dried matte with a sand effect: very strange, but very cool. Thank you to @SkinHealthSpa for the manicure – I will definitely be in for a facial soon with this post-exam face. Another bunch of cocktails and fancy nails down, we finally got to checking out the clothes – at least after a cheeky selfie with my new boyfriend – the dead tiki cocktail-mixer skeleton. Both Abi and I fell madly in love with this adorable little nautical number that I may have to invest in if only to parade around my flat wearing it, given the sad lack of holidays on my horizon. Cue violins.

We all had a really great time, and if anyone fancies whisking me away for a cheeky sun-break: I know exactly which bikini I’ll be wearing.

Thanks for the invite, guys!

WISHLIST: June

June 12, 2013

1. Dahlia Ava Tassel Hem Dress with Lace Detail – £68How quirky is this dress? I have the perfect fedora and platform boots for it. It would also go beautifully with #4 – the RegalRose ring.

2. ASOS shirt – £18 | I’ve been traipsing around the high street looking for a really simple plain white shirt to wear with the plethora of collar pins/statement necklaces I’ve been coveting recently. Thanks to Clara from CountessDuBlush for this find!

3. Boohoo Annie Oversized Vintage Jumper – £15 | I’d like this in coral and jade, please and thank you. The coral is on trend with the current pastel madness and is one of the very few colours that actually makes my pale skin look semi radiant, or at least alive.

4. RegalRose Zuri Turquoise Knuckle Ring – £17 | Massive fan of this brands stuff, not a particular fan of their price tags though. After losing my first midi ring last week, I’m scared to buy this. But I must. I must. Big on the stacking/OTT rings trend at the moment.

5. Company Magazine Fashion Forum Ticket – £25 | Plus travelling, plus food – argh. If I get a job within the next couple of days and secure some proper income, I am so very there. I’m also looking for someone to car pool with – I don’t have a car myself, but I did this with some bloggers to London Fashion Week last year and it worked really well and was cost-effective! Let me know if you fancy it!

6. Urban Outfitters Casio Pink Mini Digital Watch – £20 | The black Casio watch in a similar design has had me hovering over the ‘buy’ button for years, but this pink one might just have me sold. I’ve seen one in a mint green at Button & Bow however, that I might nab instead!

7. Boohoo Arwen Extreme Suedette Flatform Wedge – £25 | Why do I have to have pathetically small size-3 feet, which are always the first size to sell out? I want these and I want them badly. They’re the perfect ‘ALT’ernative to sandals if you’re a bit too gothy for them, like me. I’m on these as soon as they’re back in.

What’re you drooling over this month?

Pretty Little Thing’s Manchester Bloggers’ Dinner.

April 29, 2013

My word – where to start? Despite the fact that I don’t harbour a complete wealth of knowledge surrounding bloggers’ events (I’ve sheepishly ventured out to one or two, thus far), I’m going to boldly put this out there: This could’ve arguably been the best blogger event that the North West has seen in a long time. I’d just like to say a quick thanks to Zelta, Hayley, Umar and Adam, a) for inviting me and b) for putting together a brilliant afternoon – and ahem, a free bar.

Liverpool Fashion Live Event!

October 20, 2012

After an absolutely terrible week, I finally decided to get out of my sorry state of bed-sulking and get back out there – to Liverpool Fashion Live at the Pan America bar at the Albert Docks on Thursday. Brilliant idea! The event was created by two businesswomen from Liverpool, Ruth and Caz, who had grown tired of the pretentiousness of fashion events and decided to host their own where the attributes of everyday people were appreciated. The catwalks showed models from ages 14 to 80, all shapes and sizes – as a celebration of all kinds of beauty…

Manchester Arndale River Island ELLE Event & Work Experience.

October 13, 2012

A few weeks ago, I attended the ELLE event at the River Island store in the Manchester Arndale with my friend Heather, on the premise that there would be a talk from Market Editor Bonnie Rahkit and free manicures – and am I glad we went! We arrived to find free Cosmo cocktails at the store entrance, which we craftily kept going back for whilst in the very long manicure queue – until we were somewhat inebriated in the best way. We eventually got our nails done by some wonderful ladies from Boom Nails, getting to choose our preferred nail art style from the likes of Aztec, polka dots, crosses and eyes in the queue. I chose baby pink with white crosses and Heather went for deep red with Aztec patterns on one finger and an  Egyptian eye on each thumb – very cool.

New Look/Grazia Denim Styling Event – Manchester Arndale.

September 12, 2012

Yesterday I braved the rain and hopped a few trains to Manchester to check out the New Look/Grazia Denim Styling event in the Arndale – with the hope of having a couple of minutes to speak to the Grazia Fashion Editor Sophie Ferguson Jones – which I did! There was a little talk from Sophie, where she gave some hints and tips regarding the new trends for Autumn/Winter 2012 and what we should be wearing these next coming months.
