UPDATE: Life Overhaul

August 27, 2014

You may notice that I infamously promised that I’d be back on the blogging scene sometime last month, and mysteriously vanished shortly after making such a bold claim – I apologise, but I HAVE MUCHOS NEWS. After my fight (which sometimes felt disturbingly literal) to secure a graduate job without drowning to the bottom of too many merlot bottles first, I happened to get an interview for a very exciting position on the still rather new and incredibly dynamic Web Team for Primark.com – and guess who got the flipping position as Womens/Kidswear Content Assistant? That would be me! *Insert many streamer emoticons*

So, since the 3rd August, I’ve been trying to get my head around a completely different town in a completely different part of the country: I’m now a big ol’Southerner and I live in Reading. Bit of a wander from the likes of Lancaster and Manchester that I’m used to haunting, but I’m finally starting to get my bearings and have just put down the deposit for a gorgeous studio apartment that I snapped up this morning – so all systems are go – go – go with regards to new life planning! Since I got here (less than a month ago!), I’ve already experienced some amazing times: snagging a Saturday day ticket to Reading Festival and going with a complete stranger (who turned out to be fabulaaaarse and I can’t wait to hang out with her again), a whirlwind work trip to Dublin and far, far too many bottles of red wine (happy bottles though – makes all the damn difference!).

I just thought I’d drop in and remind you all that I still know how to type and (hopefully) construct reasonably interesting posts – and will be doing far more proactive things with my blog now that I’m officially part of the fashion industry and incidentally, have developed an absolute obsession with buying new (Primark) clothes. So if you want to know anything Primark-related from hereon in; I’m your girl. Once I get settled in my new apartment (which is totally OOTD-background friendly, woo), I’m going to be setting up my tripod (wheey) and posting more fashion-focused posts, rather than my verbose ramblings. You can thank me later.

It’s good to be back. xo

PREVIEW: Primark SS14 Collection.

February 27, 2014

Okay, hear me out on this one – as you might currently be as confused as me. I posted about Primark’s SS14 preview drop a month or so ago, but they’ve hit back with a whole host of new pieces to add to the collection. Are they all going to be coming out at the same time, or will these be out in summer itself? The answers, I do not know – but I’ll do my best to find out and follow up on this.

After sitting in a glorious patch of sunshine this morning, eating my second or third bowl of Sugar Puffs in the kitchen, I fantasised heavily about the slow but eventual onset of summer. Is it just me, or has it been winter forever now? Do sandals even exist? What IS a crop top? Ice cream? What a sick joke. I hate the cold – being ghostly pale and blessed with pathetic circulation, I can’t wait for the days where I can ceremoniously burn my winter coats and dance upon their ashes. Or at the very least, gleefully stuff them under my bed. Perfect excuse to buy a pastel pink jacket then, right?

In the meantime, I hope you’ll join me in drooling over these upcoming beauties (slightly weird image when you think about it – maybe less of the communal dribbling, eh):

  • Printed Beach Fringe Kimono – £15

  • Grid and Floral Print Shirt – £12

PREVIEW: Primark SS14 Lingerie Collection

January 31, 2014

Primark are doing it ever so right this season – I may even abandon my first love Ann Summers in favour of some of these adorable sets. And, unlike AS – these sets are only TEN POUNDS each. I may never have to wash my underwear again. Vivienne Westwood said you never had to wash a bra anyway, right? Check out these beauties and get looking out for them in your nearest Prazzamarni:

PREVIEW: Primark SS14 Collection Picks.

January 30, 2014

primarktop

Primark is like that friend we sometimes have, who has a wardrobe of predominant crap, with some real gem pieces – and a lifesaver collection of spare tights. The bulk of their stuff, I just wouldn’t bother buying but, on occasion, I’ve been reeled in to a ‘ZOMG SO MUCH CHEAP’ splurge and walked out with bags laden with £3 ‘bargains’ that I never needed and will probably never wear. However, this all changes at the drop of a new season: Primark gets glam. When the SS14 collection finally drops in the Manchester store, you’ll see me fighting with fellow fashionistas for these pieces:

primark 1

Palm Tree Print Scuba Tee – £8

This has got me reaching for invisible cocktails – and I’m still in bed. For this shirt, I want to abandon my Snow White ‘do, go chocolate brown with beach waves, and channel the bejeezus out of Lana Del Rey. I still don’t think I’ll be getting a tan, though…

Palm Tree Scuba Skirt – £6

I was seriously hoping and praying that this was a co-ord set. A co-ord set for £14. Now I just need to pool the cash for a holiday, eh.

Mini Satchel – £6

Urr, are these coming out in various colours? Cause, at that price, I am so ready to start a collection. You cannot beat a good Cambridge Satchel Company dupe for SIX POUNDS. Sign me up, sign me up. Oh, and it’ll totally match that shirt. Win.

primark 2

Green Blouse – £10

The prospect of shedding this horrible weather and my grumpy winter goth wardrobe, has me just dribbling at this shirt. I can see myself being as pastel-mad as my 14-year-old self’s Piczo site, this summer. And for this price, why the hell not?

Embellished Waist Lace Dress – £28

If this looks as good in the flesh as it does here, I might have to rebel from my usual tendency to avoid white. That detailing is absolutely divine and the ethereal colour palette is so on trend.

Burnout Crop Blouse – £10

This is another co-ord set that I’ll be snapping up. You’ve gotta love that floaty detailing – can it just be summer, already?

Have you caught the collection yet? What pieces are you looking forward to grabbing?

OOTD: Dissertation Dash.

January 13, 2014

Today marked the first Doomsday of my calendar: the dreaded return to university, rounded up to terror stages by the addition of a 5,000 word essay deadline and a dissertation meeting with my tutor who ever so slightly scares the living shit out of me (she’s coo’, though). I had to dash from Wigan back home to Lancaster, which included having to write up the referencing for my essay on a bus – surprised I still have a MacBook left (if you know Wigan, you’ll understand) and stupidly telling a chav to ‘eff off’ after he jumped in my path to scare me enroute to the bus stop. Surprised I still have a MacBook and a pulse. Anyway, drama was averted eventually and the day, whilst tiring, has been made exponentially better by this absolute bargain outfit.

Everything I’m wearing (necklace aside) comes from the Primark sales – the entire outfit came to TWELVE POUNDS. Yes. Twelve measly pounds. The jacket is proving an excellent purchase but there are many bloopers of me realising that you can fully see my bra through this dress with the flash on. Not sure whether that’s just the quality or something to do with the fact I’m wearing a bright white bra under a dark green dress – urrr.

I’ve got absolutely tonnes to be blogging about this week, so keep your eyes peeled.

Apologies for the utterly pants image quality on these: I didn’t have any time to take pictures before the sun went down, so these will have to do! Definitely need to get someone to start taking my pictures for me – I am fundamentally useless.

OOTD: Day 3 of LCM.

January 8, 2014

I might be typing, but I have a sneaking suspicion that my eyes may still be in bed. London Collections: Men is drawing to a close today and, trust me – I’ve had a blast. I’m not going to go into the details here, as an update will be posted later on, but here’s my last outfit of LCM (all that matters is that the mouse at the tube station yesterday didn’t get me).

OOTD: Supermarket Goth.

January 1, 2014

I did promise myself, and everyone in the Twittersphere, that one of my New Year’s Resolutions would be to incorporate more OOTD posts into my site – as it’s been getting a little clinical and  far less personal of late. And, given that I discovered I actually own a tripod today – I found myself running quickly out of excuses. However, this was a spur of the minute jaunt (wearing a run-to-Sainsbury’s outfit), so let’s smooth over my hangover hair…

Select Fashion Picks.

December 10, 2013

I’m a novice with Select. A bonafide Select virgin, yet to ever throw their pieces upon my back. Yet, after engaging in a desperate round of, what Louise Rennison would refer to as ‘sticky eyes’ (please tell me someone else worshipped the Georgia Nicholson series), with a burgundy blouse in their store window lately – I decided to check out what they had to offer online (and whether I could find that divine little number again). On first glance and, admittedly without having actually had much physical contact with their pieces to comment on quality, style-wise – I’m quite impressed.

Exhibit A: Wine Devore Tassel Kimono £20

I’m seeing antique gold ankh earrings, I’m seeing slutty plain black American Apparel bodycon dress, I’m seeing this kimono in my wardrobe. I just hope this tasselly little beaut isn’t the equivalent of some fashionista catfish scam – if it’s really as snazzy as it looks on the site, for a measly £20, then I may become the latest Select disciple.

NEWS: Primark Comes To ASOS.

June 12, 2013

And after finally checking out the hype – YES, I’m bloody happy about it. I saw the endless tweets last week, which caused a stir about the bizarre news that Primark was to finally be available online through everyone’s favourite online shopping portal: ASOS – but I was not convinced. The first thing I posted went along the lines of ‘OH shit, let me guess: the prices are horribly inflamed and have rendered Primark/ASOS into something completely alien to Primark, which is marketed heavily on its affordability’, so I didn’t bother having a look. And then I got tonsillitis. Probably karma for being a presumptuous cynic, but there you go – until recently, I hadn’t checked the line out. But hot damn, hats off to you guys: it’s impressive, and most importantly, quintessentially Primark-priced.

The main trends that I’ve noticed are sport/varsity, denim and florals (oh, and an odd array of random onesies – bit weird for summer), which all seem to be aimed at a younger buyer: I could quite easily see the entire range on the post-sixteen-year olds wreaking havoc on Leeds/Reading Festival, which’d be a nice change from the bum-revealing shorts that we ended up dubbing ‘womb-lining shorts’ by the end of the weekend last year, due to their lack of leaving much to the imagination. Anyway, the line is definitely young, flirty and really quite damn cool. Here are some pieces that I’ll be hoping to snap up:

1.Polka Dot Cut Out Denim Shirt Dress – £15 | 2. High Neck Cold Shoulder Crop Top – £6 | 3. Floral Print Prom Dress – £17

What do you think of the new collection?
