*Deep breath* aaaaaand I’m back, guys. After a couple of weeks of being a nigh-catatonic wreck with a penchant for nothing but my duvet, I’ve emerged on a whim of motivation to get back in the game – I’ve missed you guys (I also miss waffling). So today, here is just a speedy little post to outline the recent splurge I went on in the Trafford Centre on Saturday. I’ve been feeling like a barrel of dump – a bit like someone literally emptied their insides on me and then whapped me around the chops with a mangy fish – so my boyfriend decided to ‘treat’ me to a couple pick me ups. By treat me, I mean – lend me the money until I’m no longer debating bin-raiding for my dinner choices. But it’s the thought that counts, right?
The trip revolved around taking back my ZARA houndstooth coat that I’d ordered online (featured in a recent post), which made me look a tad like I was auditioning for a slightly upmarket role of Oliver. So, after the disappointment of losing yet another houndstooth-y piece, I set out to ‘sniff’ out another – see what I did there? We ended up, unsurprisingly, raiding the racks of Topshop which, of late, or at least up until very recently, have bored me to near tears. However, I came across these little beauties (and I’ll be featuring them in an upcoming OOTD or two eventually – or at least, as soon as I stop resembling something hovering at death’s door):
Holy maracas: I am not a fan of that styling, Toppers. Anyway, I love this thing. Or, at least, I will love it until it finally throws me to the clutches of pneumonia due to its deceptively thin lining. This is grand as it’ll last me into the summery months – it’s just whether I’ll last with it. It’s soft, cosy, doesn’t make me look like a snowman/homeless person and what do you know – it’s in my favourite print (my tartan scarf is glaring at me). If you want something thin that you can layer underneath, I’d recommend this coat. If you like being warm and actually venturing outside for more than a lecture-dash, I probably wouldn’t.
I’d been eyeing up that Motel sequin number for yonks now – so when I spotted this Topshop version, I just had to at least give it a quick try on. Buying it in the Petite section – which isn’t too petite, allowed me to shave £5 off its usual price, but they only have size 10s left on the site now. It’s lovely, but the fabric is quite bulky, so be wary if you want something a little more streamlined.
I’ve been awake since 9am and, somehow, still managed to procrastinate myself into the afternoon: it’s almost a skill. Outfit of the Day posts are something I said I’d get around to doing more often, so I thought I’d keep up my promise – despite my tripod currently being 40 miles away (hence the bizarre ALT angles) – and shave a few more minutes off my impending visit to the library of doom to start my essay. Some of the shots are a bit awkward, but I was fighting against the Lord of the Self-Timer whilst balancing my camera on some books, and I’ve weirdly come to love them. Still about as edgy as a satsuma…

I did promise myself, and everyone in the Twittersphere, that one of my New Year’s Resolutions would be to incorporate more OOTD posts into my site – as it’s been getting a little clinical and far less personal of late. And, given that I discovered I actually own a tripod today – I found myself running quickly out of excuses. However, this was a spur of the minute jaunt (wearing a run-to-Sainsbury’s outfit), so let’s smooth over my hangover hair…

I’m just going to put this out there – I am bloody useless at OOTD posts. I have only ever had the balls to get someone else to take my OOTD pictures once, leaving me to fight with my mirror-picture skills – or lack thereof. However, since I haven’t posted one in quite some time now, I thought I’d post this one as I like this outfit and for once, my hair isn’t being a complete arsewipe.
I’ve done a couple of dodgy ‘OOTD’s in the past, usually just a iPhone Instagram collage of bits of clothing that I’ve been wearing – but today, you’re in for a treat: here’s me in all my ‘glory’. The outfit I’m wearing is a mismatch of mine and my sister’s wardrobe as she’s recently been visiting me (and took the photos, bless ‘er) and we’ve been doing a little bit of swapsies.
I’ve been thinking for a while how great it’d be to do a weekly post where I find three beauty/fashion bloggers to feature on my site. This way, we all get to know each other better, get some discussions going and make some new friends! I’m also a little nosy so it’ll be nice to find out random stuff, like what other peoples’ favourite shoe of the season is, or what they love most about blogging. If you’d like to get involved with the next post, follow me on Twitter @Ebzo!
I’ve been blogging since April 2011, so 2 years now.
My favorite beauty product, ever, would have to be my elf Golden Bronzer. I know it’s only $3, but it gives such an understated glow that I’ve gotten so many compliments on. And, it’s so inexpensive, to boot!
Fashion-wise, I’m dying to get my hands on more of those sheer, sleeveless shirts. They’re my new fashion must-have this summer because they’re perfect to tuck into shorts and versatile enough to be worn in the colder season.
The one trend I’ll be avoiding are galaxy print leggings. Sorry, but just not my style. I’d prefer for the universe to stay in the sky & off my legs!
I’m an aspiring beauty/fashion editor and when I started collecting a lot of beauty products, I felt it was time to start blogging and putting myself out there.
Currently I’m a working student, but I plan to continue with posting on my main beauty blog, A Thing of Beauty, and I’m actually hoping to launch a new lifestyle blog in the next month!
A year next month, it’s flown by!
Benefit High Beam. I literally didn’t know what I did before I discovered it. It lights my entire face up, and is great for those mornings when I’ve had one too many margaritas the night before!
I NEED the topshop elephant printed joggers in my life. Devastatingly, they’ve been out of stock for ages 🙁
Denim dungarees. They make me look about 12.
I’m moving to london next month so my summer will probably consist of window shopping, job hunting and living off tins of beans!
I have been blogging since the 19th of February this year! I’m so proud of how far I have come in such a short space of time 🙂
This is such a hard question, argh! I think my favourite product would have to be liquid eyeliner. I don’t have a favourite brand in particular but I often repurchase the Collection 2000 and Rimmel liquid eyeliners.
I want the Topshop high waisted Mom jeans so much! I have a huge amount of love for all things high waisted, and these would be the perfect addition to my collection.
I don’t think I’ll be wearing much white this summer, because I don’t really suit it. It suits so many people and is a gorgeous trend, but it tends to make me look quite big!
Over Summer I’ll most likely be working and saving up for when I hopefully start university in September; I’ve already mentally spent it all 🙁 On Sunday’s I’ll probably be going on days out with the family, boyfriend and friends or just relaxing in the good weather I hope we have!
I feel the need to clarify that I, in no way, advocate or have any interest or affiliation with Thatcher’s politics but, you’ve got to hand it to the woman – her wardrobe was pretty nifty at times. And hey, there’s nothing wrong with celebrating a bit of fashion-related empowerment, right? So here’s a quick wardrobe update for us high-street store dwellers: (P.s. If I find anyone wearing these to a ‘Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead’ party, I will not be impressed)
And many more!
Fashion events in the North, as you know if you’re unfortunate enough to live here too, are usually so few and far between that they sneak up like a good buy in a Topshop sale. They’re also inexplicably difficult to discover, unless you’re in the Fashion/PR/Marketing industry, generally due to a lack of coverage and a lack of an obvious ‘HELLO WE POST NORTHERN FASHION EVENTS’ Twitter page. This narks me off, no end, as I always seem to miss out on stuff and end up finding it popping up all over the Twittersphere weeks later so, before we all start emigrating to London – I’ve done a little research and here’s a compilation of events (generally in the Manchester area) that I’ve spotted coming up this month:
As I’ve mentioned here and there in my recent posts: I’m currently on holiday in Marrakech, lucky lady I am. But, if you’re a United Kingdom dweller like myself, you’ll be all too aware of the absolutely grim weather we’ve been having recently, so I had to do a last-minute high street raid for my holiday clothes – less than 24 hours before we jetted off, oops! Lately, I’ve noticed that the high street has been getting a little dull: Topshop’s gone on some bizarre and rather hideous sports-‘chic’/nerd rampage, River Island will always have a damp cloud looming above until they embrace student discount but, as is increasingly apparent these days: New Look is on the ball!
