Select Fashion Picks.

December 10, 2013

I’m a novice with Select. A bonafide Select virgin, yet to ever throw their pieces upon my back. Yet, after engaging in a desperate round of, what Louise Rennison would refer to as ‘sticky eyes’ (please tell me someone else worshipped the Georgia Nicholson series), with a burgundy blouse in their store window lately – I decided to check out what they had to offer online (and whether I could find that divine little number again). On first glance and, admittedly without having actually had much physical contact with their pieces to comment on quality, style-wise – I’m quite impressed.

Exhibit A: Wine Devore Tassel Kimono £20

I’m seeing antique gold ankh earrings, I’m seeing slutty plain black American Apparel bodycon dress, I’m seeing this kimono in my wardrobe. I just hope this tasselly little beaut isn’t the equivalent of some fashionista catfish scam – if it’s really as snazzy as it looks on the site, for a measly £20, then I may become the latest Select disciple.

Haircut and American Apparel Dress Review.

May 1, 2013

Today has been an absolutely unfruitful yet quietly productive day: I finally got my absolutely monstrously dyed hair coloured by a professional and the first half of my American Apparel order finally turned up. Oh and I didn’t write a single word towards my imminent Creative Writing deadline, but that’s tomorrow’s fun and games. Now, if anyone knows me in reality and has had the misfortune of seeing my hair, or the balls to just say ‘Ebony, what the hell did you do?’ of late, you’ll know that my hair has recently been an amalgamation of brown/ginger/black. Yeah… hot stuff. Here’s a little before image and a sorry explanation of ‘what the hell I did’:

Pretty Little Thing’s Manchester Bloggers’ Dinner.

April 29, 2013

My word – where to start? Despite the fact that I don’t harbour a complete wealth of knowledge surrounding bloggers’ events (I’ve sheepishly ventured out to one or two, thus far), I’m going to boldly put this out there: This could’ve arguably been the best blogger event that the North West has seen in a long time. I’d just like to say a quick thanks to Zelta, Hayley, Umar and Adam, a) for inviting me and b) for putting together a brilliant afternoon – and ahem, a free bar.

American Apparel Flashsale Picks & Discount Code.

April 25, 2013

Admittedly, I’ve often avoided American Apparel like the plague, purely because it’s so damn expensive – so when I saw that there was a 30% off dresses code, I was sorely lured in. I’ve always been a fan of the easy-going, essentials vibe of their clothing but I’m prone to buying faddy clothes that I wear once and get sick of instead of investing in items that’ll become staples (e.g. the entirety of AA). So I decided to, using the hilarious excuse that it’s my birthday soon (by soon, in over two weeks, hmm), blow just under £100 in less than half an hour. Here are my picks:

Thatcherite Power-Dressing on a Post-Thatcher Budget.

April 9, 2013

I feel the need to clarify that I, in no way, advocate or have any interest or affiliation with Thatcher’s politics but, you’ve got to hand it to the woman – her wardrobe was pretty nifty at times. And hey, there’s nothing wrong with celebrating a bit of fashion-related empowerment, right? So here’s a quick wardrobe update for us high-street store dwellers: (P.s. If I find anyone wearing these to a ‘Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead’ party, I will not be impressed)

Out with Outfitters?

January 12, 2012

Will UO be faced with no other ALTernative than to close, after being faced with shares drops of 17%? I doubt it, but it's a good excuse to buy more clothes.

Mooching around the Internet (yeah, I do a lot of that), I happened across some pseudo-ALT satirical hipster news site called HipsterRunoff, with a news feature dubbed the “ALT Report“. (Fuck, that was a mouthful of banter)

Cue scrolling, *click*, *click*, heightened interest, Lana Del Rey, yeah, yadda yadda, LCD Soundsystem, yeeeah, okay, then BAM:  Read more ›
