Pipe-dreamin’: Giles by Giles Deacon.

December 29, 2013

The second the Christmas period arrives, I somehow get it into my head that I’ll somehow be able to afford EVERYTHING that ever was made by anyone ever – solely due to the sales. However, this is seldom (never, ever) the case and so, again – I bestow upon you another lust-filled wishlist, this time in the guise of the swish GILES line. They are sale items though, if you’re feeling a little more flush than myself…

  • White Polka Dot Silk Blouse – Was £530: now £265

Anybody who knows me in real life, or is a veteran reader of my blog, will know that I have an undying love for blouses – especially ones that are thick enough to cover your bra. The main thing I love about this shirt is that it’s quietly a naughty little minx: whilst the polka dot print may look all doe-eyed and innocent, the polka dots are in fact designed to represent the ventilators on fetish masks – ooh rather. Go on Giles, you dirty bugger. In the words of Icona Pop: I love it.

  • Pink Ikat Lace Dress – Was £1,255: now £627

Speaking of thick and hulking (ho, ho, ho) – the material of this dress perfectly reflects its hefty price-tag, which is something that I seldom find adds up with some designers. I’d have to team this with a ridiculously tight waist-cincher, to avoid looking a bit too oldyworldy/old lady, but it’s absolutely darling with that sleeve detailing.

  • Pale Pink Studded Blouse – Was £620: now £310

Giles is at it again with this deceptively cheeky number – look closely for those grungy gold spikes around the neck, eerily reminiscent of a BDSM dog collar. The garish mixed with the glamorous is so craftily done here – shame I’d have to start making BDSM videos of my own, if I wanted to buy one…

Self-Indulgent and Inescapable: The Christmas Haul.

December 29, 2013

I call it a haul, but I suppose it’s more of a communal gift dump, bestowed upon me by my loving family and friends. This year, I focused rather stringently on asking for vain and aesthetic presents: dresses/dresses/dresses/MAC-anything – and it worked out quite well. I received some gorgeous bits and bobs, here are a few pieces (I won’t be that wazzock that lists them all, lest you think I’m bragging – and put it this way, I’m still yet to get a Mulberry. Hand me the violin):

  • Forever 21 – Daring Cutout Bodycon Dress – £16.75

Arguably the sluttiest piece I have in my entire wardrobe – perhaps even surpassing my Ann Summers drawer – this dress is a corker, and I’m highly surprised my dad agreed to buy it for me (cheers dad). Definitely one only ever to be sported with black tights and nothing less, I have gone to wear this for a meal/casino night out recently and changed last minute, due to my nipples repping nothing short of the ‘telescopic Bowie antennae’ look. Maybe I’ll wear this one when the chill wears off a little…

  • Forever 21 – Enchanted Velveteen Maxi Skirt – £12.75

Check out those thigh splits – Angelina Jolie, eat yer heart out, love. I’ve been on a bit of a goth stint recently (by recently, rather circa 1993), and velvet is right up my back alley, especially when it’s floaty and mental and quite fun to team with killer boots. I’ve been wearing this with a Forever 21 black lace sweater, but I’m looking forward to returning to my flat and sporting it with one of my cropped t-shirts. Wearing around Leigh town centre has garnered a fair share of scathing chav glares.

  • Empty Casket – Amethyst Pentagram Cord Necklace – £16.00

I’m guessing you’ve caught on to the goth influences by now, no? This is such a nifty piece: the frame opens out like a pendant, allowing you to wear it without the amethyst if it clashes with an outfit, or switch with other stones if you wish to collect them. The only thing I’d like to change about it is that it’s a bit too long: I wanted a choker style, given I’ve managed to break my last two. I’m wearing it on the Forever 21 dress picture above anyway, if you’re interested. This gem is currently sold out, but there are other styles – and other drool-worthy pieces – available on the site.

  • Lush Cosmetics – My Fair Lady Gift Set – £31.95

My connection with this gift set thus far, is verging on the mildly psychotic. I found myself cuddling the ‘Miranda’ soap for quite the inordinate space of time earlier, hugging it to my nose like you’d do with a newly-bought puppy (if you liked dogs, that is). Basically, it all smells damn grand. Out of all the products included, I’ve only ever tried the Charity Pot before, which is luscious – determined to keep exfoliating/moisturising every single day now (we can only live in hope). The Tiny Hands solid hand cream bar might be a favourite so far, I’m going to have none left if I don’t stop smooshing it – the consistency is so invitingly butter-melty and luxurious. Elizabeth Arden, your hand cream reign is over: it smells exponentially better than you.

I could yanner on all day and bore you all to tears – there were other bits and pieces like: an ASOS PVC dress that I’ve been lusting over for months, some more Gucci Guilty perfume, the MAC Prep + Prime powder I mentioned in this month’s wishlist, the 3 year tradition of a new Simon’s Cat calendar, a new set of crossword books… urrr, yeah, and many fat-inducing chocolaty things and some new trusty owl slippers. Anyone else get anything similar?

As always, products linked through images.

OOTD: Freezing in Florals.

December 13, 2013

Just because it’s -1,000° outside and the real flowers are all dead, doesn’t mean it’s too late to pay homage to the wonderful summer we’re all missing. I absolutely love this dress, it’s floaty, it’s that little bit OTT – but it’s “vintage daaahling”, so you can just about get away with it. Today I’ve travelled over 300 miles back from Kent to Lancaster, so obviously, it’s a great idea to go out and get trollied now (in a different outfit, mind)…

ZARA Sale Crisis – Help!

June 21, 2013

If you didn’t know that the ZARA sale started at midnight last night, you might want to just ban yourself from the Twittersphere and be done already. Anyway, there are some really lovely pieces that otherwise, I would rarely be able to afford and these three little temptresses have caught my eye. Out of the two dresses, which one should I buy?

Printed Dress | £39.99, was £49.99

Dress with shoulder pads | £29.99, was £45.99

Shopper with braided handles | £29.99, was £39.99

Which dress? Help me out guys, need to buy – neeeed to buy. Drop me a comment or tweet me @Ebzo!

WISHLIST: June

June 12, 2013

1. Dahlia Ava Tassel Hem Dress with Lace Detail – £68How quirky is this dress? I have the perfect fedora and platform boots for it. It would also go beautifully with #4 – the RegalRose ring.

2. ASOS shirt – £18 | I’ve been traipsing around the high street looking for a really simple plain white shirt to wear with the plethora of collar pins/statement necklaces I’ve been coveting recently. Thanks to Clara from CountessDuBlush for this find!

3. Boohoo Annie Oversized Vintage Jumper – £15 | I’d like this in coral and jade, please and thank you. The coral is on trend with the current pastel madness and is one of the very few colours that actually makes my pale skin look semi radiant, or at least alive.

4. RegalRose Zuri Turquoise Knuckle Ring – £17 | Massive fan of this brands stuff, not a particular fan of their price tags though. After losing my first midi ring last week, I’m scared to buy this. But I must. I must. Big on the stacking/OTT rings trend at the moment.

5. Company Magazine Fashion Forum Ticket – £25 | Plus travelling, plus food – argh. If I get a job within the next couple of days and secure some proper income, I am so very there. I’m also looking for someone to car pool with – I don’t have a car myself, but I did this with some bloggers to London Fashion Week last year and it worked really well and was cost-effective! Let me know if you fancy it!

6. Urban Outfitters Casio Pink Mini Digital Watch – £20 | The black Casio watch in a similar design has had me hovering over the ‘buy’ button for years, but this pink one might just have me sold. I’ve seen one in a mint green at Button & Bow however, that I might nab instead!

7. Boohoo Arwen Extreme Suedette Flatform Wedge – £25 | Why do I have to have pathetically small size-3 feet, which are always the first size to sell out? I want these and I want them badly. They’re the perfect ‘ALT’ernative to sandals if you’re a bit too gothy for them, like me. I’m on these as soon as they’re back in.

What’re you drooling over this month?

NEWS: Primark Comes To ASOS.

June 12, 2013

And after finally checking out the hype – YES, I’m bloody happy about it. I saw the endless tweets last week, which caused a stir about the bizarre news that Primark was to finally be available online through everyone’s favourite online shopping portal: ASOS – but I was not convinced. The first thing I posted went along the lines of ‘OH shit, let me guess: the prices are horribly inflamed and have rendered Primark/ASOS into something completely alien to Primark, which is marketed heavily on its affordability’, so I didn’t bother having a look. And then I got tonsillitis. Probably karma for being a presumptuous cynic, but there you go – until recently, I hadn’t checked the line out. But hot damn, hats off to you guys: it’s impressive, and most importantly, quintessentially Primark-priced.

The main trends that I’ve noticed are sport/varsity, denim and florals (oh, and an odd array of random onesies – bit weird for summer), which all seem to be aimed at a younger buyer: I could quite easily see the entire range on the post-sixteen-year olds wreaking havoc on Leeds/Reading Festival, which’d be a nice change from the bum-revealing shorts that we ended up dubbing ‘womb-lining shorts’ by the end of the weekend last year, due to their lack of leaving much to the imagination. Anyway, the line is definitely young, flirty and really quite damn cool. Here are some pieces that I’ll be hoping to snap up:

1.Polka Dot Cut Out Denim Shirt Dress – £15 | 2. High Neck Cold Shoulder Crop Top – £6 | 3. Floral Print Prom Dress – £17

What do you think of the new collection?

Missguided Darby Platform Boots.

May 31, 2013

I wasn’t planning on doing a post today, I was meant to be focusing solely on revision – but I literally cannot help myself. This is just going to be a quick post to show you the new huge beauties that came in the post this morning: Missguided Darby Platform Boots i.e. ‘The Boots That Will Threaten Boyfriends’ Manhoods’. When I first spotted these on the gorgeous Sara Luxe‘s site from one of her outfit posts, I mistook them for Jeffrey Campbell Litas, then looked closer and noticed the difference – which perhaps controversially, I completely prefer to most JC shoes. The wooden heel is just too Ikea for me.

After checking where they were from, and discovering they were only £36ish with free Next Day P&P from Missguided.co.uk, I had to have them. And am I glad I ordered them: they’ve snapped back to Out of Stock again now – but you can sign up to get notified of when they’re back in! P.s. You’re going to get some crazy looks if you walk around town during the day in these, people must think I’m absolutely mental but they are bizarrely really comfortable, though I did nearly go over when I started walking and texting: curse you Lancaster cobbles.

Today I teamed them with:

  • Above frilly socks – £1.99 approx on eBay.
  • Collared geometric pattern dress – River Island £15 in sale.
  • American Apparel denim skater skirt – £6.99 approx on eBay.
  • Long chained clock pendant – £20 Urban Outfitters.

I’m definitely going to be writing up a post about the joys of eBay fashion hunting very soon, I’ve bought some really cool stuff for absolutely nothing recently. I mean – American Apparel, worn once, less than £10? Incredible.

The winner for my Little Birdie London bracelet giveaway was also announced this morning – congratulations to @lauraajarvis for winning. Now I need to rustle up some ideas for my next giveaway! Looking forward to my items from the store being delivered tomorrow, can’t wait to show you all the adorable pieces I chose, like this Lyla Statement Necklace:

STYLE CRUSH: Taylor Swift – New Perfume Announcement.

May 30, 2013

To celebrate the upcoming release of her third perfume ‘Taylor by Taylor Swift’, I’m revealing Taylor Swift as my current style crush. And face crush – she’s a beaut. I’ve always admired her effortless mix of playful sophistication: she’s the only celebrity I can think of who can pull off dressing super demurely, then at other times, really daft – like in the 22 video – and still get away with it. I think my favourite thing about T-Swift is her ridiculous ability to look absolutely drop-dead in red lipstick. I’m usually a brunette fan through and through, but something about the pale skin + white blonde + red lips + perfect pearly whites, makes me insanely jealous of her.

Here are some of my favourite T-Swift looks:

Pretty Little Thing’s Manchester Bloggers’ Dinner.

April 29, 2013

My word – where to start? Despite the fact that I don’t harbour a complete wealth of knowledge surrounding bloggers’ events (I’ve sheepishly ventured out to one or two, thus far), I’m going to boldly put this out there: This could’ve arguably been the best blogger event that the North West has seen in a long time. I’d just like to say a quick thanks to Zelta, Hayley, Umar and Adam, a) for inviting me and b) for putting together a brilliant afternoon – and ahem, a free bar.

American Apparel Flashsale Picks & Discount Code.

April 25, 2013

Admittedly, I’ve often avoided American Apparel like the plague, purely because it’s so damn expensive – so when I saw that there was a 30% off dresses code, I was sorely lured in. I’ve always been a fan of the easy-going, essentials vibe of their clothing but I’m prone to buying faddy clothes that I wear once and get sick of instead of investing in items that’ll become staples (e.g. the entirety of AA). So I decided to, using the hilarious excuse that it’s my birthday soon (by soon, in over two weeks, hmm), blow just under £100 in less than half an hour. Here are my picks:
