WISHLIST: Graduation

June 16, 2014

graduation

Moët & Chandon Rosé Imperial Champagne – £40.99 | Ted Baker iPhone Sleeve – £20 (usually £29) | Olivia Burton Big Dial Lilac + Rose Gold Watch – £125 | Miss Selfridge Nude Paisley Gown – £150 | New Look Nude Courts – £19.99

As you may know, I manage to claw my way out of the stormy depths of undergraduateland recently, and will be graduating (escaping) university forever next month. However, before then I also have a Graduation Ball held at Blackpool Tower which, with the addition of the questionable line-up of Chase + Status (DJ set…), Miss Dynamite and someone I can’t even recall, is hopefully just going to be a very fancy piss-up. So this wishlist is going to be a lusty amalgamation of my Graduation Ball outfit wants and my graduation gift wants. I think the dress and the pink Moët are a definite though. Be mine.

OOTD: Library Day of Pain.

January 10, 2014

I’ve been awake since 9am and, somehow, still managed to procrastinate myself into the afternoon: it’s almost a skill. Outfit of the Day posts are something I said I’d get around to doing more often, so I thought I’d keep up my promise – despite my tripod currently being 40 miles away (hence the bizarre ALT angles) – and shave a few more minutes off my impending visit to the library of doom to start my essay. Some of the shots are a bit awkward, but I was fighting against the Lord of the Self-Timer whilst balancing my camera on some books, and I’ve weirdly come to love them. Still about as edgy as a satsuma…

Discovering a Goldmine: New Look Generation 915.

June 15, 2013

You’ve got to be ‘kid’din’, right? Yes, I am talking about the child/teen section of New Look and yes, I am raving about it – at the disgraced un-teen age of twenty. A couple of weeks back, I was eyeing up the influx of denim trend in the regular section, particularly the denim dungaree dresses, and randomly got the brainwave to have a quick gander at the kids’ stuff – on the premise that, if – with my pathetic size 3 feet, I fit in the shoes – surely I’ll fit in the clothes? And I do. And the range is pretty damn good. There are nigh-identical teen-size alternatives to almost every staple piece from the adults’ section, without VAT, so at a fraction of the price. And here’s another bonus: you can still use student discount on top! Here’s an example of some of the things you can buy:

g915 sports luxe crop t-shirt £9.99 | g915 high-waister denim dungaree shorts £15.99

Par examplé, the average price for a dungaree style piece in the adults section, be it shorts or a dress style, gravitated around the £30 mark, whereas, the kids’ versions were only around £22.99. I’d recommend the line to anyone under a size 10 on the whole – I’m a size 6 and have bought an age 9 crop t-shirt, age 13 high-waisted dungaree shorts, age 14 skater skirt and an age 14 baggy sports luxe crop. And I think all of those combined came to approximately £35 – wowzers. One thing I was a tad disappointed with, however, was the thinness of both shirts that I bought: totally see-through for ultimate bra exposure. Great. Annoyingly, for the first time in my history of New Look perusing, the website is down, so I can’t show you any examples of the g915 offerings, but I’ll be sure to update the post with pictures once it’s back in business.

Now I’m going to be scouring the high street to see if anyone else offers the same versatile sizes!

First OOTD.

May 30, 2013

I’ve done a couple of dodgy ‘OOTD’s in the past, usually just a iPhone Instagram collage of bits of clothing that I’ve been wearing – but today, you’re in for a treat: here’s me in all my ‘glory’. The outfit I’m wearing is a mismatch of mine and my sister’s wardrobe as she’s recently been visiting me (and took the photos, bless ‘er) and we’ve been doing a little bit of swapsies.

New Look Holiday Picks.

March 29, 2013

As I’ve mentioned here and there in my recent posts: I’m currently on holiday in Marrakech, lucky lady I am. But, if you’re a United Kingdom dweller like myself, you’ll be all too aware of the absolutely grim weather we’ve been having recently, so I had to do a last-minute high street raid for my holiday clothes – less than 24 hours before we jetted off, oops! Lately, I’ve noticed that the high street has been getting a little dull: Topshop’s gone on some bizarre and rather hideous sports-‘chic’/nerd rampage, River Island will always have a damp cloud looming above until they embrace student discount but, as is increasingly apparent these days: New Look is on the ball!

An ELNfashion Update.

November 1, 2012

I notice that, again, I’ve been really quiet on the blogging front recently – primarily due to the fact that I’ve been catching up on the past couple of weeks at uni that I’ve missed. Apologies, apologies, I’m finally managing to get everything back in order so I’ll be back to posting regularly very soon. I’ve also had my iPhone stolen recently, if you were wondering why I’m barely ever on Twitter either, these days. Here are some posts that I’m looking to write hopefully before the end of the week:

  • Urban Outfitters Gets Uber Criticism – Bought way too many dodgy products from there recently.
  • Urban Outfitters Haul – Picking the decent stuff from the crap.
  • Saying Hello To My New Macbook Air – Apple or Windows? Windows 8 perks vs. Mac functionality.
  • Halloween Feature – Potentially not the most interesting post, as we didn’t even dress up – haha.
  • Planning for my work experience at ELLE in London in 11 days!
  • Topshop/Urban Outfitters/Miss Selfridge/New Look New In Feature.
  • Cambridge Satchel Bag Lovin’.
  • Alex Christopher Event Write-Up.
  • Brat & Suzie Review.

And I’m sure I’ll think of plenty more soon.

Manchester Arndale River Island ELLE Event & Work Experience.

October 13, 2012

A few weeks ago, I attended the ELLE event at the River Island store in the Manchester Arndale with my friend Heather, on the premise that there would be a talk from Market Editor Bonnie Rahkit and free manicures – and am I glad we went! We arrived to find free Cosmo cocktails at the store entrance, which we craftily kept going back for whilst in the very long manicure queue – until we were somewhat inebriated in the best way. We eventually got our nails done by some wonderful ladies from Boom Nails, getting to choose our preferred nail art style from the likes of Aztec, polka dots, crosses and eyes in the queue. I chose baby pink with white crosses and Heather went for deep red with Aztec patterns on one finger and an  Egyptian eye on each thumb – very cool.

Passion For Fashion – Moneysupermarket.com Competition Entry Part 1.

September 19, 2012

Like most fashion/beauty bloggers, I spend my mornings trawling through Twitter looking for something that catches my eye – be that the latest RT and follow competition, more recently gorgeous Instagram snaps from LFW or big competitions: like this amazing Moneysupermarket.com addition! To enter the competition, you must write a blog post containing 5 hypothetical outfits under £200 for 5 scenarios (party, casual, outdoor, first date and officewear), outlining why you would buy them and also incorporating a bit of Moneysupermarket by looking for ways to get things “on the cheap”. Everyone loves a good deal, right? Now, let me tell you the prizes: 5 winners will win one of their chosen outfits and one lucky blogger will win £1000 to buy all of their chosen outfits – and an iPad 3, just in case you weren’t content with that… Wowzers. So here’s my entry:

London Fashion Week – OOTD

September 16, 2012

So the other day I ended up at London Fashion Week to watch the Timur Kim show, completely randomly, but there’ll be another post about that shortly – where you can read all about it. I went with two other lovely fashion/beauty bloggers, who you can find here: (PS. click the names for blog links!)

Here are a couple of pictures of my outfit that day which, may I add, I ran around New Look frantically purchasing the day before I left for London (I only found I was going about 16 hours before we set off!):
