Topshop’s Autumn/Winter 2012 Collections: Sensationalist.

August 9, 2012

Topshop always have been and always will be the high-street store to get bang on-trend outfits from – and this coming season is no different. All of the collections are available for purchase now, so you can stock up ahead of the trend and even incorporate some of the pieces into your wardrobe now – if you want to look really fashion-forward.

Sensationalist – All Things Bright and Beautiful (and Damn Bold).

The first Topshop A/W2012 collection is their ‘Sensationalist’ look. It comprises of many ‘wow’-factor pieces that can be mixed  in with casuals for a day-time look, or matched together for a show-stopping look for a night out or dinner date. The collection looks expensive and pretty regal, with the general colour scheme surrounding blacks and metallics – two colours that always pack a punch. Another thing that I absolutely adore about Topshop and this collection especially is their extensive range of gorgeous collars. These will look fabulous over a crisp white shirt or a floaty blouse. You could even team with a pinafore dress over the top, for a real retro look. Here are my favourite picks from the ‘Sensationalist’ collection:

1. Black Studded Sleeveless Bodycon Dress.

The embellishment on this dress is so lovely – and very flattering to your figure, despite the hugging of the bodycon material. The way the pattern follows the contours of the female body will ensure that you look just on the right side of curvy on your nights out. The studded collar is really popular right now, whether that’s a physical collar that’s studded, or studs in a collar shape – we love collars and we love studs! Team it with a black leather biker jacket and shoe-boots for a cool evening look, or tone it down with a dark blue denim jacket and brown shoe boots for a more casual, major festival look.

2. Co-ord Ombre Fringe Shorts.

These shorts are so adorably quirky and I can imagine they’d be great fun whilst out dancing – all that swishing. They are part of a ‘suit’ set, with a jacket also available on the website if you fancy it – though I don’t think I’d go for the entire look myself. The ombre look has been huge this year, from bags to hair – everyone who’s anyone has sported it in some form or another. It also amusingly fits in with the ludicrous 50 Shades of Grey trend that’s gone wild lately. Team these with a casual baggy shirt tucked in, with black tights and heels for evening. Alternatively, go bright with your top half and accessories if you’re looking for a holiday look.

3. Multi-tube Capelet.

This will look fierce, as I said before, with a nicely fitted shirt and smart pants – with killer heels. You can put this with anything really, except particularly girly outfits – as it is a bit out-there. It would look amazing over a black dress though, the plainer the better.

4. Lipstick in Hazard.

Given the gist behind this collection is drama, you might want to consider a statement lip – especially if you buy that first dress! You could team this with a smoky eye for a show-stopping night time look, or you could keep it simple and 40s by lining your eyes with a cat-eye flick and minimal blush. Eyebrows are important for that look too, so you want to keep them trim.

Keep an eye out, I’ll be posting the other collections very soon. Until then, happy shopping! xoxo
